Hot Trend in Cocktails Is Making Your Mouth Numb

The Hot Trend in Cocktails Is Making Your Mouth Numb . . . and Even TGI Friday's Is Doing It

Can something really be considered trendy if TGI Friday's is doing it?

Apparently, the hot trend in cocktails right now is . . . making your mouth NUMB.

The cocktails use a little blossom called a Sichuan button or buzz button.  And when you bite into one, it makes your mouth a little numb and it has this intense tingle for about 10 minutes or so.

According to bartenders, it really helps bring out the flavors in your drinks and lets you really taste all of the individual ingredients.

And unlike a lot of "mixology" trends, this one has left the bars in Brooklyn and gone mainstream.  TGI Friday's is all over the trend, and they just rolled out a drink called the Blackberry Buzz 'Rita that uses a buzz button in it.
