Mom Buys Out Entire Payless Store & Donates All the Shoes to Charity

A Mom Buys Out an Entire Payless Store and Donates All the Shoes to Charity

Payless stores have been closing down after they filed for bankruptcy in February. And this is the second story like this we've seen in the past few months . . .

A woman in northwest Arkansas named Carrie Jernigan recently took her kids to the mall to get new shoes. And Payless was having a liquidation sale.

Her daughter asked if they could buy a pair of Avengers shoes for her friend at school, who couldn't afford shoes that fit. Then Carrie asked the cashier how much it would cost to buy ALL the shoes they had left.

There were about 300 pairs, and she won't say how much they cost. But a woman in Kansas did the same thingrecently, and got 204 pairs of shoes for 49 cents each.

Things got even more generous though. Because when Carrie came back with a truck to pick the shoes up, she found out the store had just gotten another shipment of another THOUSAND PAIRS of shoes. And she bought all those shoes too.

She ended up with just under 1,500 pairs of shoes, and won't say how much she spent. Butthe total value of the shoes BEFORE her discount was about $21,000.

Around 400 pairs were for adults, and she donated them all. The other 1,100 pairs were kids' shoes. So she set up an event next weekend, where parents can go get free shoes for their kids, just in time for the new school year.
