"Ok Boomer" Is the Slang Term of the Moment
The generational divide right now is not great, with younger generations and Baby Boomers not seeing eye-to-eye on basically ANYTHING.
So Gen Z and Millennials have a new catchphrase that's getting VERY popular to sum it up: "Ok boomer."
The"New York Times"summed it up by saying, quote, "Teenagers use it to reply to cringey YouTube videos,Donald Trump tweets, and basically any person over 30 who says something condescending about young people and the issues that matter to them."
And t-shirts and other clothing with "Ok boomer" on it are selling like crazy online.
A researcher who studies online communities says the phrase and merchandise has become so popular because, quote, "Gen Z is going to be the first generation to have a lower quality of life than the generation before them."
