Bachelorette alum Ashley Herbert revealed her husband, JP Rosenbaum, has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome.
Herbert announced the unfortunate news on his Instagram on Sunday (December 8). âJP was diagnosed with Guillain-BarrĂ© syndrome yesterday,â she wrote in her Instagram Stories along with a photo of the 42-year-old resting from his hospital bed. âHe is in treatment and doing well. It may be a long road to full recovery, but we are so grateful to everyone that has helped us get to a speedy diagnosis and treatment.â
Rosenbaum also took to his Instagram Stories to describe the news of his âvery surreal and humbling and crazy, rareâ diagnosis. âThings you do every day, like picking up this phone, or buttoning buttons, tying shoelaces, putting on deodorant, just canât do it,â he added. âPicking up my kids, canât do it. Wiping your aâ, maybe TMI, but might have Ashley assist on the next one. Canât really believe it.â
Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a rare disorder in which the immune system attacks the nerves. Symptoms may begin as signs of weakness or a tingling in the feet and legs that eventually spread to the upper body, causing muscular pain, and during which paralysis can occur.
Luckily, Herbert and Rosenbaum acted on the disease early enough to begin the recovery process. The diagnosis came days after the lovebirds celebrated their wedding anniversary earlier this week.
The couple, who met on the seventh season of The Bachelorette in 2011, married the following year in December. They share two children, 5-year-old son Fordham, and 3-year-old daughter Essex.
We're wishing Rosenbaum a safe and speedy recovery.
