The 100 Best Songs of This Stupid, Pandemic-Plagued Year
Listening to music was one of the ways people coped with an extremely difficult 2020 . . . and so the staff at "Billboard" put together a list of the 100 best songs of the year.
Any song that was released or peaked on the charts in 2020 was eligible . . . although there were exceptions like "Watermelon Sugar" and "Don't Start Now", which were left out because they made LAST year's list.

The eclectic tastemakers at Pitchforkchose a somewhat surprising #1 . . . Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's"W.A.P.". Their #2 was more on-brand . . ."People I've Been Sad" by French star Christine and the Queens.
"NME" also put "W.A.P." at #1 on their list.
The #1 for the "New York Times" was the TikTok sensation"F2020"byAvenue Beat and Jessie Reyez. . . and "Rolling Stone" tacked" Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac onto the end of their Top 50 Songs list.
