Here's Why You Should Make Your Phone Screen Black and White
Want to curb your raging addiction to your phone? Just have it channel "I Love Lucy".
A former design ethicist from Google named Tristan Harris says if you make your phone screen all black and white . . . instead of the millions of colors you have now . . . it can help you break your addiction.
All those colors are positive reinforcements that keep you scrolling and tapping. By going grayscale, you won't have as much of an urge to use your phone.
And it's easy to set your phone to black and white. Both iPhone and Android have settings that let you easily shut off the color.
Lots of people have tried this and some say it works, some say it doesn't . . . but it's worth a shot, right? (Wired)
(For iPhone, it's in Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Color Filters. Turn the Color Filters switch on, and Grayscale is an option. For Android, it's in Quick Settings, tap the Pen icon, and add the Grayscale icon to your apps.)
