A Woman Says HR Always Has to Change Her Email Address Due to Her Crappy Initials
When people were naming kids 10 or 20 years ago . . . they weren't thinking about how their names would be used to create corporate email addresses. So things like this happen . . .
A lot of companies have a general email structure for new employees . . . combining your first initial with your last name, if it's available.
A woman is going viral on TikTok, for explaining how it's always awkward when she gets a new job . . . because her name is Samantha Hart . . . and HR always has to tell her that her name "doesn't exactly fit" the usual email structure.
That's because her address would be "shart@thecompany.com" . . . and as you probably know, "shart" has sort of a, well, crappy definition.
Samantha says she's had two jobs before, and this has been an issue at BOTH gigs, because they typically used the first initial / last name set-up.
And now, she is transitioning to a new job, and she's DREADING having the conversation again. So, she's thinking about just bringing it up right away during her onboarding, so that there's no awkward conversation about it later.

(Here's the video of her explaining it. In the comments a woman named "Allie Holle" says this has been a problem for her too. Another person said their name is "Tamsin Rash" . . . another said their ex is "Paul Enis" . . . and someone says they worked with a "Patrick Ecker.")
(And it's different, but one person said they worked with someone whose last name was "Null" and it messed up their company's database.)
