It appears Christmas is a little hard on the wallet. A recent study found that the average person will end up spending close to $100,00 on the holiday over the course of their lifetime. So how does that end up breaking down? Well, it goes something like this...
1. $235 per year on decorations and things for the home
2. $301 on food
3. $375 on gifts
4. And $645 on hosting parties, dinners, and fixing up your home before guests get there
As usual, the breakdown will vary by the person, like for instance, if you're traveling you end up spending more money on travelling instead of hosting. But no matter the breakdown, it all comes out to about $1,500 a year which gets you close to six figures when it's all tallied up.
