Another Storm Is Barreling Across The Country - The powerful storm that left flooding and mudslides in Southern California is now bearing down on the Great Plains as it moves to the east.
Forecasters say the storm redeveloped today as it rolled over the Rockies. Dozens of states from the Dakotas to Mississippi to Maine are under warnings, advisories and watches for snow, ice, flooding and damaging winds. The storm system is moving through the Great Plains and part of the mid-South bringing snow and blizzard conditions to the Northern Plains and thunderstorms to the southern plains.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast to spread into the Carolinas and eventually the Northeast by tomorrow. Forecasters say the storm system will pick up lots of moisture from the Gulf Coast and the Atlantic Ocean Friday night. It will strengthen the storm and lead to heavy snowfall and ice for the interior regions of the Northeast.
A flood watch is in place from just north of New York City to Hartford, Connecticut into Boston and Maine for as much as two to three inches of rain on top of melting snow Saturday. Residents should be aware of possible flooding rivers and streams.
