Murder Suspect In Standoff With Detroit Police - Detroit police are trying to peacefully end a stand off with a man suspected of murder injuring and officer and another man.
The DPD says the suspect who shot an officer in the knee late last night is a double-murder suspect. The gunman is promising to not surrender without a fight and has been keeping police at bay for hours inside a home on Lamont Street on the city's northeast side.
Officials say the gunman is suspected of killing two women and injuring a man along with shooting the officer. 911 was called last night after gunfire was heard and police responded, getting fired upon when they got there. The two dead women were residents of the street the incident unfolded at.
It’s believed the suspect has a mental illness and has no criminal history. The man, however, does have seven guns registered to him and is licensed to carry concealed weapons.
